Bem vindo ao Brasil !

How far would you go out of your way to help someone when you're tired/busy/hungry/fed up with people who don’t speak your language ?

What about Julio, the young man who interrupted his schedule to welcome us into his beautiful family home…

Or Robin and Binka’s farmer neighbours who for the last 30 years have accepted these estrangeiros into the community, so that exchanging ideas, products and services is now a matter of course…

Or the young man who not only made sure we got on the right bus, but insisted on accompanying us right to our hostel…

Or the old boy in the fish market who poured out half of his seafood soup for me to probar

Or the waiter who came back with some money because he’d overcharged us..

But special mention to the man at Brasilia airport. When we asked where the car rental returns were he made enquiries (5mns), tried to explain (5mns), then got into the car to take us (aargh !?!) (20mns in the labyrinth of Brasilia). No car jacker but a Phd from the USA who was seeing his wife off at the airport !

And also to the mother who after 11hrs in a bus with a fretful young daughter refused to let us walk to the hotel and persuaded her husband, anxious to get home (it was the middle of the night on a weekday) to drive us there, came in and sorted things out with the lad at reception, continually apologising for the quality of the place, and the clientele…

And the mechanic who offered to change our tyre for nothing (we had no cash left)…

Is it the grey hair effect or something else ?

Welcome to Brazil ! Where are you from ? France ? Paris St Germain !! Neymar !! (Brazilian football star….)
